This School District Is Actually Trying To Protect Students.

For all the rhetoric and handwringing of leftist school administrators regarding recent school shootings, few are proposing any responses that would result in safer campuses. Expelling kids for innocent hand gestures or because they unknowingly left a knife in their car are examples of zero-tolerance rules that do nothing to neutralize real threats to students and faculty.

One public school district in Utah, however, is bucking the regrettable anti-gun trend by equipping officers with AR-15s or, as radical leftists might inaccurately call them, ‘assault rifles.’

According to Chief Randy Johnson of the Granite School District Police Department, the decision just makes sense when considering the clear danger armed intruders can pose to an entire school.

“If we don’t get in and stop the shooter,” he said in an interview with a local NBC affiliate, “more people are going to die.”

In addition to the upgraded firepower, Johnson explained that a new surveillance system will provide better coverage of any potential threats on campus.

The two added features are designed to work together, allowing police to respond quicker when seconds count.

“Most shootings will be over very quickly,” Johnson added, “and so if we arrive on the scene and we can hear gunshots, the officers are now being trained to go to the sound of the gunfire and stop the threat that is taking place. We know that we don’t have a lot of time to save people’s lives.”

Throughout the vast majority of America’s history, the concept of ‘peace through strength’ has been a cornerstone in our unparalleled prosperity and security. In recent generations, however, the left has increasingly argued against proper defenses – whether through devastating military cuts on a national level or through disarming the individual with restrictive gun control legislation.
